Creating and Managing Quizzes
Quizzes help assess student understanding and reinforce learning. This guide covers the complete quiz creation process, from setting up a quiz to configuring question types and answers.
Creating a New Quiz
Starting the Quiz Creation Process
- Navigate to your course in the Instructor Dashboard
- Click "Add Material" and select "Quiz"
- Enter a descriptive quiz title
- Add an optional description explaining the quiz purpose
- Click "Create Quiz" to proceed to the question editor
Tip: Use descriptive quiz titles like "Module 1: Basic Concepts Quiz" rather than generic names like "Quiz 1".
Adding Questions
The platform supports multiple question types to accommodate different assessment needs.
Multiple Choice Questions
Multiple choice questions are the most common assessment type:
- Click "Add Question" in the quiz editor
- Select "Multiple Choice" as the question type
- Enter the question text
- Add answer options (minimum 2, maximum 6)
- Mark the correct answer by clicking the checkmark icon
- Click "Save Question"
Important: Each question must have exactly one correct answer marked for automatic grading to work properly.
Question Best Practices
- Clear wording: Write questions that are unambiguous and easy to understand
- Consistent length: Keep all answer options similar in length
- Avoid hints: Don't make the correct answer obviously different from others
- Reasonable distractors: Wrong answers should be plausible
Setting Correct Answers
Properly marking correct answers is essential for automatic grading.
Marking Answers
- Each answer option has a checkbox or toggle for "Correct"
- Click to mark the correct answer
- A visual indicator (usually green) confirms the selection
- Only one answer can be marked correct per question
Reviewing Answers
Before publishing your quiz:
- Review all questions to ensure correct answers are marked
- Verify question text for typos or errors
